The place to be for active holiday in Estonia

If you say skiing in Estonia, everyone will think of Otepää. Everyone in Estonia has been to Otepää. Normally also in a sports camp in Kääriku which is really near from Otepää. And that is where Kekkonen hiking route (Kekkose matkarada) is. Seems like I am not very normal, and though I have been in Kääriku several time (camp), I never ever have been to the hiking route there. The route is named after a Finnish president Urho Kekkonen who visited Kääriku in 1964 and took the route.

The hiking route is ca 15 km long, you can also choose shorter routes. We, with a gang of sporty people (I have to say I was one of the less sporty), we took this lovely route for training purposes, so though we walked and watched the nature and did some nice pictures, we did go through it with quite a pace.

The route can be done walking, running, cycling and skiing during winter and the highest point there is 213 m.

You can find the route map here.
